GREENWOOD, SC - Countybank Foundation made a $2,000 donation to The Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a non profit group that provides programs that encourage independence, self esteem and productivity. The Chapter works with forty female youth (ranging from ages 10 to 18) and their parents. The programs that the girls participate in over a seven month period include; Teambuilding Ropes Courses, Social Graces and Family Bonding activities, Literacy Education and other cultural activities. In February, the girls will participate in a Youth Summit that will provide educational classes with a goal aimed at enhancing the youth and their parent's understanding of abstinence, effective communication skills, social graces and etiquette, character building, college preparation and college life. "We are very excited to receive this donation," said Thesa Smith, president of Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter. "These funds will enable us to continue to provide quality service to young ladies in our community who otherwise would not be able to benefit from these type programs." The donation made by Countybank Foundation will assist in the implementation of these and other programs.
