The Door of Hope receives donation

GREENWOOD, SC - Countybank Foundation made a $1,000 donation to La Puerta de Esperanza (The Door of Hope), a non-profit center focused on assisting Hispanic families becoming acclimated to American society. The center, which is located on Chipley Avenue, has become a center for Family Development. The comprehensive program they offer includes; training opportunities, guidance, inspiration and other resources to ensure the families they serve develop into prosperous and healthy families. Among the many services they provide, the center currently offers English as a second language (ESL) classes for adults and children, an after school tutoring program, Spanish classes and reading programs in the summer. They have future plans to add workshops in parenting skills, immigration information, computer word processing and personal finance management. "We greatly appreciate Countybank's interest in our community," said Carol Gray, director of the center. "Their generous donation to La Puerta de Esperanza is a great help as we attempt to provide education and assistance to the very grateful Hispanic population we serve. Individual employees of the bank who have discovered our work have given personal donations of food and clothing and we hope there is even the possibility of picking up a few volunteers! We are very grateful for Countybank's interest in people."

The contribution made by Countybank Foundation will be used to construct a storage facility to store donated furniture, household items, clothing and other items donated from the community. If you are interested in assisting La Puerta De Esperanza in any way, please contact Carol Gray at 864-223-5301.
